Announcing Sparks 2 Stanzas!
I recently started a new series across my social media called Sparks 2 Stanzas. I wanted to do something that keeps me writing poetry and could get my followers, family and friends involved in poetry even if they don’t read or write it.
The premise of the series is that each week I ask for prompts (sparks) which are just comments on the post, then I use a random generator to select a prompt and write a poem (stanzas) with that prompt that I share on my blog and social media. I also credit the submitter of the prompt unless they don’t want me to.
Sometimes the week will be themed and I will ask for a certain type of prompt as well. I’m excited to see how this grows and progresses with time!
Here is the detailed weekly breakdown:
- Wednesday – I post asking for prompts (sparks) for the week across my Instagram, Facebook Page, TikTok and X (Twitter). You have until Friday at midnight to comment your prompt.
- Saturday to Monday – I put the prompts into a random generator wheel and it chooses one, and I write a poem that week with it.
- Tuesday – I post the finished poem on my social media and blog and credit the person whose spark was picked.
- We start all over for the next week!
