I’ve been wanting to watch this movie for a while. The next book in the Heartstrings series I like is loosely based on this movie, and then a friend told me it was in her top three so I decided to finally watch it.
I generally am not a fan of older movies, and I did find this one to be cute. I like the fact that it’s about competing bookstores and I found it really cute that they were messaging over the computer with the old school connection tone. At first I was a bit skeptical because they both already had partners so it felt a bit wrong for them to be emotionally invested in someone over the internet, but once it was clear that their partners and them were not serious or in love I got a bit more invested.
I didn’t enjoy the ending and how he ran her around some more before revealing he was the guy she was messaging. I also feel like he owed her something for ruining her business and it was kind of surprising she wanted to be with him after that. I was hoping he was going to buy her store back for her or something really romantic.
Overall I can see why people like it but it wasn’t anything special to me. Cute and funny and light for a rainy day.
